I am a professor of Transnational History at the University of Texas Arlington and a former Humboldt fellow.

I study intercultural transfer, transnational history, the history of philanthropy, and civil society.

I teach a range of courses on intercultural transfer and Germany.

Dr. Adam has secured extramural funding from a number of highly regarded American, Canadian, German, and Italian private foundations as well as from government agencies such as the National Endowment for the Humanities. He is an expert judge for funding proposals for foundations and government funding agencies from across the world including the National Endowment for the Humanities, the New Eurasia Foundation, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, the Swiss National Science Foundation, and the European Union.
